Mechanical Test & Trials Worker

Job Summary
Conduct performance, safety, and quality tests on mechanical systems aboard vessels, including troubleshooting, analyzing results, and documenting findings. Operate marine diesel power plants, gas turbines, and auxiliary equipment while interpreting pressure, temperature, and flow data. Execute commissioning, operational, and demonstration test procedures for automatic controls, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems. Calibrate instrumentation, maintain testing equipment inventory, and perform lockout/tagout procedures. Participate in sea trials, stand watch, and work in confined spaces or at elevations exceeding five feet. Follow company policies for safety, environmental, and quality standards while working overtime as required.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 1 years of experience in Propulsion, Auxiliary, Fuel, ship testing, or Damage Control systems
- Extensive knowledge of shipbuilding processes, mechanical systems, industry regulations, and testing standards
- Proficiency in interpreting technical drawings and specifications
- Capable of working independently with minimal supervision
- Strong communication skills to interface with customers, management, and personnel across departments
- Demonstrated troubleshooting and problem-solving skills to resolve issues with mechanical systems and test setups
- Experience operating and maintaining mechanical testing equipment, ensuring calibration and proper functioning
- Must be able to perform work in confined or enclosed spaces
- Must be able to climb and work at elevations exceeding 5 feet
- Must be able to use and wear a respirator when required
- Must be able to work overtime as required
- Must maintain consistent and punctual attendance
Desired Qualifications
- Minimum of 1 years of experience in Propulsion, Auxiliary, Fuel, ship testing, or Damage Control systems preferred, but not recommended if experience is relatable
- Personnel who served in military or worked, similar fields of work to shipyard are highly recommended
