Job Summary
The Mechanical Test Engineer will own testing procedures used to prove new designs are fit to fly, serving as the extreme owner for qualification tests conducted in-house and at manufacturing sites. Responsibilities include developing test methodologies aligned with industry standards, qualifying and refining test processes to move products from prototype to high-volume production, balancing off-the-shelf versus in-house test capabilities, designing new test stands or updating existing ones, and developing tooling and custom test solutions to enable high-quality Amca hardware. The role involves planning capital equipment upgrades, collaborating with engineering and production teams to drive design improvements, guiding designs from concepts to qualified aerospace components, prototyping components in the in-house R&D lab, and helping define company design and testing policies. Requires a Bachelor’s or advanced degree in aerospace/manufacturing/mechanical engineering or engineering physics, and 1+ years of engineering experience (internship/project experience applicable). Preferred candidates have 2+ years in aerospace/mechanical engineering, GD&T expertise, strong project management and cross-disciplinary communication, and experience with fluid and/or electrical system testing, pneumatic/hydraulic/structural assemblies, and CAD tools (Siemens NX or similar). Travel to vendors and other Amca sites is expected; flexible hours and occasional weekend support may be required. Annual salary range is $100,000–$130,000 USD. Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's or advanced degree in aerospace engineering, manufacturing engineering, materials engineering, mechanical engineering or engineering physics
- 1+ years of engineering experience in manufacturing, design, test, or development
- Strong understanding of engineering first principles, thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, and solid mechanics
- Experience with building and testing of fluid and/or electrical systems
- Experience with GD&T concepts
- Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills; problem solving; optimization of aerospace production and design processes
- 2+ years of professional experience in aerospace/mechanical engineering
- 2+ years of experience with CAD (Siemens NX or equivalent)
- Experience with test instrumentation and control components (pressure transducers, thermocouples, RTDs, relays, solenoid valves)
- Experience with Python, MATLAB, or similar
