Job Summary
Mechanical Technician responsible for safely performing mechanical repairs and maintenance of heavy industrial equipment (pumps, fans, gear drives, compressors), troubleshooting equipment for proper performance, reading and repairing from blueprints, and supporting safety, environmental, and quality goals. Tasks include rebuilding, repairing, installing rotary equipment, performing preventive/predictive/corrective maintenance on rotating and stationary equipment, using precision measurement tools, aligning belts and pulleys, bearing installation, and undergoing training in specialized mechanical skills such as crane operation, welding, pipe fitting, machining, and fiberglass repair. The role requires swing-shift work (3p-11p) as needed and participation in mandatory compliance and skills training; reports to Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor in the Maintenance department.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; Certificate or Associates degree in a related discipline and 1 year of maintenance experience OR successful completion of the Tronox Internship Program OR 3 years mechanical maintenance experience in an industrial environment OR 5 years of production experience at Tronox.
- Score 75 or higher on the Mechanical Maintenance Skills Test
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Basic understanding of electrical, hydraulics, pneumatics
- Strong understanding of general maintenance processes and methods
- Internal candidates must have completed Tronox Maintenance Training Curriculum, MX or above on recent performance evaluation, and no active corrective action
