Job Summary
Prototype Assembly Technician specializing in optical system assembly and custom tool operation. Responsibilities include lamination and processing of optical assemblies for prototypes, hands-on active alignment of optical modules used in AR devices, careful hand assembly and part processing, rework of prototypes and components both mechanically and electrically, operating custom calibration and assembly equipment, and writing documentation and reports relating to assembly practices and opto-mechanical test data. Must have mechanical background, 5+ years in a related technical field, a BS in ME/optics or related field, experience in an R&D lab for product development, rapid prototyping capabilities, laser safety experience, calibration experience with camera-based sensors, and experience authoring SOPs for assembly and test. Nice-to-have skills include NX, vendor interactions, Python, and C++. Prior work in AR/VR or optical consumer products is preferred.
Required Qualifications
- BS in ME, optics or related technical field
- 5+ years of experience in a related technical field
- Experience in R&D lab for product development
- Calibrations experience (camera-based sensors)
- Experience authoring SOPs for assembly and test
- Mechanical background and aptitude
- Laser safety experience
- Experience in lamination and processing of optical assemblies
