Mechanical Technician

Job Summary

Fabricate and assemble electrolyzer stacks, build mechanical and fluid systems, and install piping and tubing to support hydrogen production technology. Diagnose and repair mechanical or fluid issues while ensuring safe and efficient system operation. Work closely with engineers to meet technical specifications and accurately record build processes, modifications, and test results for traceability. Perform leak tests, proof tests, and operate forklifts and lifting equipment in high-pressure environments. Requires 2+ years of hardware assembly experience, ability to lift 50 lbs, and proficiency with hand and power tools. Located in Hawthorne, CA; full-time role with on-site presence.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 2+ years of experience in hardware assembly, test, maintenance, or similar roles
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs unassisted
  • Able to work on-site in Hawthorne, CA

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience with fabricating tubing and fittings for high-pressure fluid and gas systems, perform basic operations (leak test, proof test), and the ability to work safely in these environments
  • Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and machines (lathe, mill, laser cutter, welder) to build and assemble complex systems
  • Ability to safely operate forklifts (5-15k lb) with non-standard loads and use lifting equipment (gantries, slings, shackles, etc...)
  • Familiarity with reading and interpreting engineering drawings, schematics (P&IDs), work instructions, and technical documents
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot mechanical systems
  • Strong attention to detail and diligent in following work instructions
  • Commitment and pride in high-quality workmanship
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Effective communication skills, with the ability to collaborate closely with engineers and other team members
  • Curiosity into the system design and operation
  • Enthusiasm for hands-on work and a passion for contributing to the development of clean energy technology
