Job Summary
Lead design, development, and integration of mechanical systems for Power Conversion & Distribution in electrified platforms. Define mechanical system architecture for power conversion and distribution, and lead enclosure/housing design for power electronics (inverters, converters, Battery Power distribution units). Drive compact, lightweight packaging optimizing space, weight, thermal performance, and structural integrity. Own DFM/DFA for manufacturability, perform material selection, ensure robust sealing and IP-rated enclosure durability for harsh environments. Collaborate with electrical/PCB teams for mechanical-electrical integration, conduct and guide FEA analyses, support prototype builds and validation, and drive design improvements.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
- 8 to 15 years of experience in mechanical engineering, preferably related to power electronics, electrification, automotive, or industrial systems
- Experience in compact, lightweight enclosure design for high-power systems
- Strong mechanical system architecture and product integration skills
- Enclosure and housing design experience for power electronics
- DFM/DFA for high-volume manufacturing
- Thermal management expertise (heat sinks, cooling strategies, interface materials)
- Material science knowledge (aluminum, plastics, coatings, composites)
- Structural and vibration design for harsh environments
- Sealing, gasketing, and IP-rated enclosure design
- Tolerance stack-up and GD&T
- Cross-domain collaboration with electrical and PCB teams
- FEA experience (structural, thermal, vibration) and associated tools
- Prototyping, testing, and root cause analysis
- Communication and design review capabilities
- Ability to work across mechanical, electrical, and manufacturing domains
