Job Summary
Design mechanical systems architecture for new power and motion products, optimizing performance, simplicity, and time to market while ensuring compliance with IEC, UL, and MR standards. Lead teams to solve architectural problems, create system-level documents defining interfaces and design intent, and guide supplier selection for best-in-class partners. Collaborate with control, power, and manufacturing experts to deliver simplified solutions that address real-world customer challenges. Stay abreast of emerging technologies and external industry standards to advise the business on strategic responses. Influence decisions across multiple teams to maintain a common architecture vision while developing a broad product and customer perspective.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent years of relevant work experience
- Legal authorization to work in the US
- Background in mechanical engineering
- Systems mindset
- 8+ years system level design experience in mechanical systems
- Experience working as a design and technical leader who builds partnerships in a matrixed environment and directs the activities of other employees
- Significant experience designing drive hardware and mechanical systems including design for manufacturability considerations
- Expertise in simulating mechanical systems
- Skilled user of ANSYS tools including mechanical, ICEPAK, Electronic Desktop, Sherlock
- Demonstrated success with other tools where knowledge would carry over
- Understanding of how customers use motor drive products and how they fit into target applications and system environments
- Understanding of the competitive landscape for our technology and products
- Knowledge and expertise across multiple engineering disciplines
- DFSS black belt
- Experience with prototyping processes including SLA and 3D printing
- Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday in-office presence (hybrid policy)
Desired Qualifications
- Graduate degree relevant to mechanical engineering
- Equivalent in-depth knowledge and experience (to Graduate degree)
