Mechanical Superintendent - Pipefitting

Job Summary

Oversee pipefitting and mechanical construction activities in the field, leading foremen and trade partners to ensure successful completion aligned with schedule, quality, safety, and budget goals. Develop detailed CPM schedules, scope of work, and site logistics plans while managing labor forces and coordinating subcontractor meetings for optimal performance. Lead field execution for carbon steel, copper, and stainless piping systems, including installation, testing, balancing, startup, and commissioning readiness. Monitor project costs, labor productivity, and installation performance to identify improvement areas, while assisting with bidding, chart of accounts, and shop drawing submittals. Resolve field issues related to constructability and sequencing to maintain production flow across multiple trades.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 7 years of applicable field leadership experience
  • Significant experience in pipefitting, mechanical, or MEP construction field operations
  • Experience with relevant large-scale commercial or industrial projects
  • Previous experience directing and coordinating pipefitting/mechanical trades
  • Strong knowledge of pipefitting systems, construction principles, field practices, and sequencing requirements
  • Experience leading installation of carbon steel piping, copper piping, stainless piping, mechanical equipment, and related pipefitting systems
  • Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, shop drawings, and coordination documents
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety, quality, and production performance
  • Experience with self-perform mechanical or pipefitting work
  • Previous experience working closely with Project Management teams through successful completion of project phases
  • Experience coordinating startup, testing, balancing, commissioning, and turnover processes
  • Experience working in occupied facilities, complex phasing environments, or technically challenging mechanical projects
  • Familiarity with field technology, scheduling tools, and construction documentation platforms
  • Strong field presence and ability to lead crews and foremen effectively
  • Ability to coordinate across multiple trades and maintain schedule commitments
  • Consistent focus on safety, quality, planning, and accountability
  • Ability to anticipate issues, solve problems in the field, and drive work to completion

Desired Qualifications

  • Self-perform construction management experience highly preferred
