Job Summary
Mechanical Structural Engineer responsible for the design, analysis, and realization of battery systems and power electronics. Focus on structural integrity, electrical packaging compliance, vibration robustness, and manufacturable designs under defined loading, thermal environments, and boundary constraints. Key duties include performing linear/nonlinear FEA (static, modal, random vibration, fatigue, thermo-mechanical, drop impact), designing sheet metal/casting/extrusion structures, evaluating bolted joints and welds, developing isolation mounts, and integrating thermal solutions. Packaging/layout optimization with space claim, creepage/clearance for high-voltage systems, EMI/EMC considerations, IP sealing, and serviceability. Collaboration with electrical teams, defining GD&T and tolerances, material selection, DFM/DFA for manufacturability, and supporting DV/PV builds, CAE correlation, DFMEA/PFMEA, APQP deliverables, and PPAP. Familiarity with supplier technical engagement, tooling/process capability, and design reviews. Requires 5 days onsite at location in Bangalore, relocation available, and no visa sponsorship. Strong emphasis on fatigue life optimization, stiffness efficiency, and cost considerations in energy & power applications.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in mechanical, aerospace engineering or similar
- 3 to 6 years of experience in battery systems, power electronics, or energy & power applications
- Experience with Teamcenter PLM for product data management, BOM management, and design release processes
- Ability to design for structural integrity, electrical packaging compliance, vibration robustness, and manufacturability
