Job Summary
Design and develop mechanical components and assemblies for robotic systems, focusing on mechanisms and transmissions; contribute to end-effector and gripper design with kinematics, packaging, and actuator/sensor integration; prototype and iterate designs via rapid fabrication (3D printing, off-the-shelf parts); collaborate with electrical and software teams to integrate motors, sensors, and control systems; perform basic validation (tolerance, strength, failure modes); generate CAD models, drawings, and fabrication/assembly docs; support lab build, test, and debugging of hardware systems; work within NVIDIA’s robotics-focused ecosystem (gear lab and multimodal foundation models) to advance humanoid robotics and embodied AI.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
- 4+ years of working experience in mechanical design or related area
- Strong fundamentals in mechanisms, gear trains, actuations systems
- Experience with robotic systems, mechatronics, or precision mechanical design
- Proficiency in CAD (Onshape, SolidWorks, Fusion 360, or similar)
- Understanding of design for manufacturing (DFM) and tolerance stack-up
- Hands-on experience building and debugging physical hardware
- Knowledge of end-effectors or gripper design is a plus
- Familiarity with motors, transmissions, and sensors
