Job Summary
Mechanical Service Technician III handles start-up, checkout, and troubleshooting for HVAC and building automation systems on service-installed jobs. Performs mechanical inspections of boilers, chillers, pumps, and related equipment, conducts final adjustments and calibration per owner manuals, documents findings and feasible upgrades, reviews project costs and scopes, and supports wiring checkout and automation system startups. Provides on-site service from emergency calls, responds to customer service requests, documents repairs and recommendations to encourage repeat business, and trains other specialists on systems, equipment, and company policies. Requires strong knowledge of building automation, HVAC, electrical concepts, reading blueprints, and safety procedures; must be able to communicate effectively with customers and colleagues, perform testing and diagnostics, and maintain safety standards. Will travel frequently in the Kansas/Midwest region with occasional overnight stays; requires physical ability for field work and capacity to lead projects as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Associate degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Minimum ten years of experience in HVAC
- Minimum ten years of experience in mechanical capacity
- Minimum ten years of experience with systems including on-the-job experience as a systems/mechanical specialist
- EPA universal refrigeration handling certificate
- Valid driver license
- Block journeyman or master mechanical license
- Willingness to travel frequently through Kansas and the Midwest; occasional overnight stays
- Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
