Job Summary
Design complete skid layouts for turbo expanders, including structural analysis, piping, and seal gas systems. Generate detailed assembly drawings, BOMs, and technical specifications while integrating instrumentation and valves per hazardous area classifications. Lead vendor technical evaluations, perform critical mechanical and thermal calculations, and participate in Factory Acceptance Testing. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure design integrity, safety compliance, and adherence to project deadlines.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Minimum of 10+ years of dedicated experience in the design, packaging, and integration of high-speed rotating equipment (turbo expanders, centrifugal compressors, or steam turbines) within the oil & gas, petrochemical, or industrial gas sectors
- Proven track record of delivering modularized skid packages from conceptual design through to fabrication
- Knowledge of Codes & Standards: Understanding of API 617 (Axial and Centrifugal Compressors and Expander-compressors), API 614 (Lubrication, Shaft-sealing, and Oil-control Systems), ASME B31.3 (Process Piping), and ASME Section VIII (Pressure Vessels)
- Software Proficiency: Strong hands-on experience with 3D CAD modeling tools (e.g., Aveva E3D/PDMS, SolidWorks) and structural analysis software (e.g., Solidworks, ANSYS)
- Cryogenic Insight: thorough understanding of material selection and thermal insulation requirements for cryogenic applications (temperatures below -150°C)
- Good understanding of mechanical design, system integration, layouting & packaging
- Strong proficiency in Solidworks
- Familiar with industry standards such as ASME, API and ANSI
