Job Summary
Manage overall project direction for HVAC, plumbing, and heavy piping projects by procuring equipment and subcontracts, monitoring job costs, maintaining billing and schedules, and providing technical leadership to the field. Conduct pre-job and continuing planning meetings, develop project schedules, and visit job sites daily to inspect progress, resolve issues, and enforce corrective measures. Establish subcontract buy-outs, process scope changes, and provide material takeoffs and pricing for work modifications. Maintain long-term customer relationships and ensure projects are completed on time and within budget. Requires 5 years of mechanical construction experience and proficiency with job cost accounting systems.
Required Qualifications
- Experience as a Project Manager with HVAC, Plumbing, and Piping projects
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Construction Management
- 5 years minimum of relevant work experience managing mechanical construction projects
- Renovation work experience
- Negotiating experience in construction change orders and project presentations
- Ability to solve complex, multi-faceted problems using various problem-solving techniques
- Good written and oral communications skills
- Polished presentation skills
- Ability to interpret contractual documents, plans, specifications, schematic diagrams and isometric drawings
- Proficiency at both technical and business letter writing
- Proficiency with computerized job cost accounting systems
- Proficiency utilizing the Microsoft Office suite, with testable skill at the intermediate level in Excel
- Understanding of financial models used in fixed price, cost plus and unit rate/price contracting
- Ability to physically negotiate the hazards of a new project worksite/work areas (e.g. uneven surfaces, floor openings, heights, installation debris and poor lighting)
- Ability to be reasonably on-call as necessary to support the on-going 24/7 operations of our clients which may include evenings, weekends and some holidays
- Ability to be on the job site daily to check progress, inspect work and conduct meetings to resolve issue
