Mechanical Project Engineer

Job Summary
Plan, estimate, design, and execute mining infrastructure projects from design through commissioning and handover. Review engineering deliverables, drawings, and specifications to ensure safety, compliance, and fit for purpose. Support scope development, cost estimates, schedules, and procurement packages while coordinating equipment tenders and contract awards. Work with internal stakeholders, site operations, contractors, and consultants to resolve interface issues, manage engineering risks, and drive project delivery. Participate in site visits, inspections, and coordination meetings to address technical and construction challenges. Prepare data analysis and commentary for monthly project reporting on progress, cost, schedule, and risks.
Required Qualifications
- A Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
- 10 years of experience delivering capital projects in heavy industrial settings, mining and construction
- Experience supporting feasibility studies, detailed design, and project execution
- Delivered projects from within owner side project teams
- Solid understanding of construction methodologies and site operations
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary and culturally different teams
- Horizontal Adaptability – able to shift focus or changing tasks smoothly when environment or project needs change
