Job Summary

Lead project teams to develop new designs for process systems supporting automotive and aerospace research facilities, taking ownership of technical schedules and budget performance. Plan, schedule, and coordinate engineering work by selecting and adapting techniques for piping, ducting, compressors, pumps, and specialty HVAC systems. Analyze features, review results for completeness, and develop technical reports for clients. Collaborate with structural, machine design, and fluid dynamics engineers to create engineering calculations, specifications, and drawings. Gather stakeholder information, perform calculations, and prepare rough layouts. Provide installation support and supervision by working with suppliers and subcontractors at project sites, including climbing test stands and operating machinery. Participate in proposal development, design reviews, and factory acceptance testing while maintaining high quality standards under deadlines.

Required Qualifications

  • B.S. Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited engineering school
  • Minimum 5 Years engineering experience or 2 - 3 Years engineering experience and a MS degree from an accredited engineering school
  • Prior design experience with process systems is preferred
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work collaboratively and independently
  • Ability to work in a multi-discipline team environment is required
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Word, PowerPoint and Excel
  • Knowledge and experience with common process piping systems
  • Strong mechanical and process engineering analytical skills
  • Excellent oral and written communications
  • Strong technical problem solving
  • Strong organizational approach
  • High ethical values and strong commitment to self-development, teamwork, and desire to work
  • US Citizenship
  • Experience with management of scope, schedule, and budget of individual projects
  • Design experience including layout of process drawings and specifications
  • Knowledge of AMSE B31.1 and B31.3 and ASME B&PV Code
  • Knowledge of thermodynamics, fluid flow – compressible and incompressible, thermal sciences, and process systems
  • Experience in design and/or maintenance of mechanical process systems
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs
  • Regular day shift attendance is mandatory
  • 100% attendance

Desired Qualifications

  • FE/EIT certification
  • Previous DOE nuclear, DoD, NASA, or test facility experience
  • Software experience preference: AutoCAD, AutoPipe, Caesar II, Mathcad, Creo, AFT
