Job Summary
Lead Mechanical & Piping Construction Estimator responsible for preparing detailed estimates used for bid preparation, project planning, subcontractor and vendor selection, and cost-effectiveness analysis. Manage and mentor a team of estimators, coordinate with marketing to evaluate bids, and present capabilities to GC and owner-level decision-makers during pre-award. Analyze scope, pricing questions, and cost trends to support margin management on non-residential projects in healthcare, industrial, mission critical, and heavy commercial sectors. Requires strong communication skills, proficiency with estimating software (Accubid Enterprise a plus), and a track record of bidding projects at $250,000+; office-based in the Kansas City area with local project visits.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- Minimum 5 years of mechanical piping construction estimating experience
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record; must pass background check and drug screen
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in construction management or mechanical engineering preferred
- Experience bidding non-residential projects at $250,000+
- Proficiency with computerized estimating software; Accubid Enterprise experience a plus
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook); willingness to learn new platforms
- Strong verbal and written communication skills; comfortable presenting to external stakeholders
