Job Summary
Research client design proposals and specifications to determine design feasibility, then work with clients to develop project scope, estimates, and schedules. Review and approve project drawings and standards while developing major equipment and material selection for construction specifications. Utilize computer-aided engineering software to perform design tasks, ensuring all activities comply with applicable codes, regulations, and laws. Provide technical direction to other engineers and support fabrication and installation phases to verify engineering document adherence. Coordinate activities across project disciplines involved in the operation, application, and repair of various systems.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an accredited institution
- Alaska PE license
- Five (5) years engineering experience in the oil and gas industry
- Two (2) years off-pad pipeline engineering experience
- Engineering experience for projects on the North Slope – Alaska
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical journals
- Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from clients, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community
- Ability to effectively present information to management and client
- Comprehend and apply principles of calculus, modern algebra and statistical theory
- Ability to work with concepts such as limits, rings, quadratic and differential equations and proofs and theorems
- Ability to apply mathematical operations to work projects
- Apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems
- Ability to deal with non-verbal symbols (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, etc.) in the most difficult phases
- Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form
- Possess a working knowledge of Microsoft Word, word processing software
- Possess a working knowledge of Excel spreadsheet software
- Possess a working knowledge of Outlook e-mail software
- Possess a working knowledge of any other discipline-specific design or analysis software, as required
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of managers, clients or employees of organization
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as fractions, proportions, and percentages
- Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry
- Apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form
- Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
- Ability to observe safety and security procedures
- Must be able to work independently, and with project team
- Must be able to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
Desired Qualifications
- Proficiency in Bentley AutoPIPE or other piping stress analysis software
- Responsible engineering experience including arctic pipeline, process piping, and/or HVAC system work
- Familiarity with ASME B31.3, B31.4, B31.8 piping codes and material specifications
- Familiarity with ASHRAE standards
