Job Summary
Mechanical Maintenance Technician responsible for routine and preventive maintenance of school vehicles and equipment (oil changes, tire checks, filter replacements), inspecting and repairing mechanical components (engines, belts, brakes, hoses) under supervision, troubleshooting mechanical and electrical issues with basic diagnostic tools, repairing door hardware and ensuring smooth operation and security, assisting with building equipment repairs (doors, gates, fixtures), maintaining workshop organization, following safety procedures and PPE, maintaining accurate maintenance records, performing snow removal, and performing additional duties as assigned. Requires interest in mechanics or maintenance trades, basic tool knowledge, problem-solving and attention to detail, willingness to learn from experienced staff, dependability, and physical stamina.
Required Qualifications
- High school graduate or vocational/technical program preferred
- Basic understanding of tools, vehicles, or mechanical systems (helpful but not required)
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical labor
- Valid driver’s license may be required for some positions
