Mechanical Maintenance Lead

Job Summary

Direct and supervise maintenance, repair, and modification activities for air-cushion vehicles, aircraft, and shipboard mechanical systems to support the U.S. Navy's LCAC ACV program. Lead a workforce of mechanics, technicians, and inspectors while providing hands-on oversight for troubleshooting, corrective maintenance, component replacement, and system testing. Develop daily, weekly, and long-range maintenance plans, prioritize tasks based on operational needs and safety, and manage scheduling for preventative, corrective, and emergent work. Implement quality assurance practices, enforce safety standards, and conduct worksite inspections to ensure compliance with technical and procedural requirements. Drive process improvements through root-cause analysis and ensure accurate documentation of all maintenance actions.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Degree
  • Active Secret Security Clearance
  • Seven (7) or more years of experience performing maintenance, repair, or modification on air‐cushion vehicles, aircraft, or U.S. Navy shipboard mechanical systems
  • At least five (5) years of concurrent experience supervising maintenance and repair of air‐cushion vehicles or aircraft
  • Strong background in mechanical system troubleshooting, system-level maintenance, and operational readiness restoration
  • Familiarity with the following standards and certifications: J‐STD‐001, IPC‐A‐610, IPC‐A‐620, NAVSEA Welding Certifications, Non‐Destructive Testing (NDT) procedures
  • Required experience with the Navy 3‐M Preventative Maintenance Program, including documentation, execution, and reporting requirements
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven ability to lead maintenance teams in high‐tempo environments
  • Strong organizational, communication, and prioritization skills
  • Familiarity with maintenance documentation, inspection processes, safety procedures, and technical work instructions
  • Ability to hold yourself and others accountable on short-term and long-term goals
  • Superior organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks
  • High level problem-solving and communication skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
  • Project management principles and practices
  • Ability to work with various levels of personnel including senior leadership
  • Use of Microsoft Office software applications to include Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
