Mechanical Maintenance Engineer

Job Summary

Develop and improve Reliability Centered Maintenance and preventive maintenance programs while evaluating effectiveness to increase equipment reliability. Lead root cause analysis investigations for equipment failures, implement defect elimination strategies, and manage asset condition monitoring using vibration analysis and infrared thermography. Support capital improvement projects, maintain equipment documentation, and ensure compliance with mechanical, pressure vessel, and regulatory requirements. Collaborate with operations and engineering teams to drive equipment performance and safe plant operations. This role reports to the Maintenance and Engineering Manager at a global specialty chemical manufacturer producing hydrogen peroxide in Prince George, B.C.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or equivalent education and experience
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in industrial manufacturing, chemical processing, or heavy industry
  • Experience with reliability engineering, preventative maintenance, and mechanical integrity programs
  • Knowledge of rotating equipment, piping systems, pressure vessels, and industrial maintenance practices
  • Experience leading root cause analysis and defect elimination initiatives
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and Microsoft Office applications
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and project management skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a plant environment
  • Ability to work in office and manufacturing environments, including standing, walking, climbing stairs, bending, and occasional lifting

Desired Qualifications

  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation or eligibility for registration with Engineers and Geoscientists BC (EGBC)
  • Reliability engineering certification or related reliability experience
  • Experience with vibration analysis, infrared thermography, or condition monitoring technologies
  • Experience with SAP or computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS)
  • Experience supporting capital projects and equipment upgrades
  • Knowledge of pressure vessel inspection programs and regulatory compliance requirements
