Job Summary
Prepare mechanical and chemistry samples, including grinding and polishing for metallography, while performing grain, corrosion, and bend testing with result evaluation. Maintain and calibrate testing equipment, enter results into AS400, and document procedures in hard copy and the sample archive system. Train backup technicians and execute special work order testing for QC and other departments. Adhere to strict Occupational Health and Safety Act regulations, wearing required PPE and following Lock out Tag out guidelines. Work in a clean, well-ventilated plant environment with mobility across the site.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED Equivalency
- Mobility in plant
- Ability to sit, stand, walk
- Technical hand use
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
- Visual ability with or without correction
- Communication abilities
- Occupational Health and Safety Act and regulations compliance
- Company safety rules adherence
- Protective equipment wear (Safety shoes, Safety glasses, Hearing protection, Hard Hat)
- Clean shaven (for respirator compliance)
- Fire Retardant clothing
- Acid PPE
- Lock out Tag out (LOTO) guidelines adherence
- Environmental Policies and Regulations adherence
- Clean and safe work area maintenance
- Acerinox Code of Conduct
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to learn, adapt, and retain information
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
