Job Summary
As a Tool and Die Journeyperson at General Motors in Spring Brook, NY, you will follow established safety procedures (OSHA) and independently diagnose, maintain, dismantle, repair, and replace mechanical and hydraulic components on industrial machinery (including shafts, motors, generators, air compressors, engines, pumps, cylinders, gears, couplings, linkages, high-speed CNC spindles, coolant systems, filters, valves). You will read blueprints for conveyors and automation, lay out and fabricate piping systems, use hand/tools for measuring, cutting, threading, and soldering, operate CNC machines (lathes, mills, grinders), fabricate tools and dies to spec, plan operation sequences from blueprints/models, and verify product quality with calipers, micrometers, and dial indicators. Occasional forklift/crane operation and rigging to meet loading requirements are required, with relocation/travel expenses borne by the applicant.
Required Qualifications
- At least six (6) years of related experience in a Mechanical trade (millwright, pipefitter, toolmaker, machine repair) or a U.S. Department of Labor Certificate of Completion in a Mechanical trade (millwright, pipefitter, toolmaker, machine repair).
- Must be able to satisfactorily complete the General Motors hiring process requirements which includes comprehensive assessments, drug testing, and a background check
- At least 18 years of age
- Eligible to work in the United States
- Must be willing to work flexible shift hours and day, afternoon, or night shifts as well as overtime hours daily, weekend and holidays on those shifts with little notice
