Job Summary
Follow established safety procedures and maintain, dismantle, repair, and replace mechanical and hydraulic components on industrial machinery. Layout, assemble, fabricate, and repair piping systems while reading blueprints for conveyor and automation systems. Operate mobile equipment, set up rigging, and run CNC machine tools to shape parts to precise dimensions. Determine quality by verifying dimensions and alignment using measuring instruments. Work flexible shift hours including days, nights, weekends, and holidays with little notice. This onsite role supports General Motors' vision of Zero Crashes, Zero Emissions, and Zero Congestion.
Required Qualifications
- At least six (6) years of related experience in a Mechanical trade (millwright, pipefitter, toolmaker, machine repair) or a U.S. Department of Labor Certificate of Completion in a Mechanical trade (millwright, pipefitter, toolmaker, machine repair)
- Must be able to satisfactorily complete the General Motors hiring process requirements which includes comprehensive assessments, drug testing, and a background check
- At least 18 years of age
- Eligible to work in the United States
- Must be willing to work flexible shift hours and day, afternoon, or night shifts as well as overtime hours daily, weekend and holidays on those shifts
- Must be willing to work overtime hours daily
- Must be willing to work weekend shifts
- Must be willing to work holiday shifts
- This position is categorized as onsite
- This means the selected candidate is expected to report to a specific location on a full-time basis
