Job Summary
Follow established safety procedures while maintaining, dismantling, repairing, and replacing mechanical and hydraulic components on industrial machinery. Layout, assemble, fabricate, and repair piping systems using hand or power tools, and operate CNC machine tools to shape parts to prescribed dimensions. Read blueprints for conveyor and automation systems, operate mobile equipment, and determine loading requirements for rigging. Fabricate punches and tools to exact specifications, plan operation sequences, and verify product quality using measuring instruments. Work flexible shift hours including days, nights, weekends, and holidays with little notice. This onsite role supports General Motors' vision of Zero Crashes, Zero Emissions, and Zero Congestion.
Required Qualifications
- At least six (6) years of related experience in a Mechanical trade (millwright, pipefitter, toolmaker, machine repair) or a U.S. Department of Labor Certificate of Completion in a Mechanical trade (millwright, pipefitter, toolmaker, machine repair)
- Must be able to satisfactorily complete the General Motors hiring process requirements which includes comprehensive assessments, drug testing, and a background check
- At least 18 years of age
- Eligible to work in the United States
- Must be willing to work flexible shift hours and day, afternoon, or night shifts as well as overtime hours daily, weekend and holidays on those shifts with little notice

- Quick response to safety instructions, alarms, and signals are a must
- Ability to work and stand for extended periods
- Comfortably wear personal protective equipment
- Navigate a busy environment

- Drive mobile equipment when needed
