Job Summary
Tool and Die Journeyperson at GM performing maintenance, dismantling, repair and replacement of mechanical and hydraulic components on industrial machinery; layout, assemble, fabricate and repair piping systems; operate hand/power tools for cutting, threading, bending, soldering, assembling, and installing pipes, valves, and fittings; read blueprints for mechanical operation of conveyors, robotics, and automation; set up and operate CNC machines (lathes, mills, grinders) to shape parts; fabricate tools and fixtures; plan operation sequences from blueprints; ensure quality by checking dimensions and tolerances with calipers, micrometers, gauge blocks, and dial indicators; operate mobile equipment; rig loading; adherence to OSHA safety and company procedures; requires six years of mechanical experience or DOL certificate; hourly compensation range provided; relocation/travel at applicant's expense; U.S. work eligibility; potential Journeyperson or Journeyperson In Training status.
Required Qualifications
- At least six (6) years of related experience in a Mechanical trade (millwright, pipefitter, toolmaker, machine repair) or a U.S. Department of Labor Certificate of Completion in a Mechanical trade.
- Must be able to satisfactorily complete General Motors hiring process requirements including assessments, drug testing, and a background check.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Eligible to work in the United States.
- Willing to work flexible shift hours including day, afternoon or night shifts and overtime, including weekends and holidays with little notice.
