Job Summary
Mechanical Journeyman/Machine Repair role in a General Motors facility. Responsible for maintaining, dismantling, repairing, and replacing mechanical and hydraulic components on industrial machinery (including shafting, motors, pumps, CNC spindles, conveyors, robots, piping systems). Read and interpret blueprints for machinery and automation; set up and operate CNC tooling; fabricate tools and fixtures; manage safety and quality checks to ensure defect-free parts; operate mobile equipment; participate in planned maintenance, robotics/automation systems, and high-speed spindle work; accommodate varied shifts and overtime as needed. Requires at least six years in a mechanical trade or an approved trade certificate, ability to pass GM hiring requirements, and eligibility to work in the U.S. Relocation/travel expenses are applicant's responsibility. Parks in a North Manchester, Indiana location with an emphasis on safety, quality, and adherence to UAW/GM terms.
Required Qualifications
- At least six (6) years of related experience in a Mechanical trade (millwright, pipefitter, toolmaker, machine repair) or a U.S. Department of Labor Certificate of Completion in a Mechanical trade (millwright, pipefitter, toolmaker, machine repair)
- Must be able to satisfactorily complete General Motors hiring process requirements including comprehensive assessments, hair drug testing, and a background check
- At least 18 years of age
- Eligible to work in the United States
- Must be willing to work flexible shift hours and day, afternoon, or night shifts as well as overtime hours daily, weekend and holidays on those shifts with little notice
