Job Summary
Mechanical Journeyman (Machine Repair) at Parma Metal Center for General Motors. Primary responsibilities include maintenance, dismantling, repair, and replacement of mechanical and hydraulic components on industrial machinery; reading blueprints for conveyors, robots, and automation; setting up and operating CNC tools; fabricating and repairing piping, and ensuring conformance to specifications using precision measuring tools. Requires at least six years of related experience or a U.S. DOL certificate in a mechanical trade, ability to pass GM's hiring requirements, and eligibility to work in the United States. Relocation expenses are the applicant's responsibility; role may require flexible shifts including nights, overtime, and travel as needed. Safety compliance with OSHA standards is essential, as is the ability to operate lifting equipment and mobile equipment (forklifts, cranes). Skills in robotics, automation, hydraulics, piping, CNC machining, blueprints interpretation, and quality inspection are key to success.
Required Qualifications
- Six (6) years of related experience in a Mechanical trade (millwright, pipefitter, toolmaker, machine repair) OR U.S. Department of Labor Certificate of Completion in a Mechanical trade
- Must be able to satisfactorily complete the General Motors hiring process requirements including assessments, hair drug testing, and background check
- Minimum 18 years of age
- Eligible to work in the United States
- Must be willing to work flexible shift hours including day, afternoon, or night shifts as well as overtime, weekends and holidays
