Job Summary
Mechanical Journeyman (Machine Repair) in a GM environment responsible for maintaining, dismantling, repairing, and replacing mechanical and hydraulic components on industrial machinery, reading blueprints for conveyors/robots/automation, setting up CNC machines, fabricating tools and tooling, and ensuring conformance to specifications with precision measurement devices. Must operate mobile equipment, rig materials, lay out and install piping, and adhere to OSHA safety procedures; role may include hands-on maintenance across mills and automation systems with potential overtime and relocation at applicant's expense.
Required Qualifications
- At least six (6) years of related experience in a Mechanical trade (millwright, pipefitter, toolmaker, machine repair) or a U.S. Department of Labor Certificate of Completion in a Mechanical trade (millwright, pipefitter, toolmaker, machine repair)
- Must be able to satisfactorily complete the General Motors hiring process requirements which include comprehensive assessments, hair drug testing, and a background check
- At least 18 years of age
- Eligible to work in the United States
- Must be willing to work flexible shift hours and day, afternoon, or night shifts as well as overtime hours daily, weekend and holidays on those shifts with little notice
