Job Summary
Mechanical Journeyman (Machine Repair) at Parma Metal Center for General Motors. Primary responsibilities include maintaining, dismantling, repairing, and replacing mechanical and hydraulic components on industrial machinery (e.g., shafting, motors, generators, pumps, CNC spindles, conveyors, robotics), reading and interpreting blueprints for mechanical operation and assembly of conveyors and automation, setting up CNC tools, fabricating tools, and planning sequences of operations. Ensure quality of finished parts by measuring with calipers, micrometers, dial indicators, and other instruments; operate forklifts/cranes; rig equipment; work with piping systems; comply with OSHA safety procedures; and be willing to work varied shifts with potential overtime. Location: Muncie, Indiana, USA. Note: relocation/travel expenses are the applicant’s responsibility; GM does not sponsor immigration.
Required Qualifications
- Six (6) or more years of related experience in a mechanical trade (millwright, pipefitter, toolmaker, machine repair) or a U.S. Department of Labor Certificate of Completion in a Mechanical trade.
- Able to satisfactorily complete General Motors hiring process requirements including comprehensive assessments, hair drug testing, and a background check.
- At least 18 years of age.
- Eligible to work in the United States.
- Willing to work flexible shift hours including day, afternoon, or night shifts, with overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed.
