Job Summary

Mechanical Journeyman (Machine Repair) role at Parma Metal Center for General Motors. Key duties include following OSHA and company safety procedures; maintaining, dismantling, repairing, and replacing mechanical and hydraulic components on industrial machinery; fabricating and repairing piping systems; using hand/power tools for measuring, cutting, threading, bending, soldering, and installing pipes, valves, and fittings; reading blueprints for mechanical operation of conveyors, robotics, and automation; operating forklifts and cranes; setting up and operating CNC lathes/mills/grinders; fabricating tools and fixtures; planning sequences from blueprints/models; ensuring defect-free finished parts via precision measurement instruments. Minimum qualifications require six+ years in mechanical trades or a relevant DOL certificate, eligibility to work in the US, age 18+, willingness to work varied shifts including overtime, and no immigration sponsorship provided by GM. Required Qualifications

  • At least six (6) years of related experience in a Mechanical trade (millwright, pipefitter, toolmaker, machine repair) or a U.S. Department of Labor Certificate of Completion in a Mechanical trade (millwright, pipefitter, toolmaker, machine repair)
  • Must be able to satisfactorily complete the General Motors hiring process requirements which include comprehensive assessments, hair drug testing, and a background check
  • At least 18 years of age
  • Eligible to work in the United States
  • Must be willing to work flexible shift hours and day, afternoon, or night shifts as well as overtime hours daily, weekend and holidays on those shifts with little notice
