Job Summary
Mechanical Inspector role focusing on daily field inspections of MEP/HVAC installations on large-scale building projects, ensuring compliance with approved drawings, specifications, and codes. Responsibilities include monitoring QA/QC procedures, reviewing contractor tests and commissioning activities, documenting inspection results and deficiencies, coordinating with electrical and structural inspectors, supporting submittal reviews (mechanical), RFIs, and shop drawings, ensuring safety and environmental standards are observed, and maintaining inspection logs and test results. Requires 7+ years of mechanical inspection experience, strong knowledge of MEP/HVAC systems and related standards, ability to interpret drawings and specs, and effective communication and coordination skills. Preferred certifications include ICC, ASHRAE, or NICET; OSHA safety training; familiarity with aviation-related standards is a plus. This position is part of Parsons’ Critical Infrastructure team, with salary range $35.96-$62.93 per hour.
Required Qualifications
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field; equivalent field experience will be considered
- 7+ years of experience in mechanical inspection on large-scale building, aviation, or transportation projects
- Strong knowledge of MEP and HVAC systems, codes, and construction practices
- Familiarity with commissioning, testing, and start-up requirements for HVAC and mechanical systems
- Excellent communication, documentation, and coordination skills
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting mechanical drawings, specifications, and shop drawings
- Preferred Certifications: ICC, ASHRAE, NICET Mechanical certifications desirable
- OSHA 10/30-hour safety training
- Knowledge of MAA, FAA, or other aviation agency standards preferred
