Mechanical Inspector and/or Plans Examiner

Job Summary
Conduct examination of building permit applications, blueprints, specifications, and shop drawings for compliance with the Florida Building Code. Inspect buildings and facilities to verify conformance with regulations, recognizing and resolving unique technical problems. Prepare written and electronic reports, issue notices of correction, and meet with design professionals and contractors to discuss code issues. Maintain all required records and reports. Perform other related duties as assigned by the Manager. Some travel may be required for inspections and managing projects in the assigned area. Salary is commensurate with experience and licensure.
Required Qualifications
- State of Florida Plan Review License (PX) in building
- State of Florida Inspector License (BN) in building
- ICC Residential & Commercial Plans Examiner and/or Inspection certification in building
- knowledge of the Florida Building Code and other regulations pertaining to construction and development
- Ability to understand and interpret codes and evaluate project proposals and projects under construction to verify conformance with code requirements

Desired Qualifications
- Certified or certifiable as a Building Plans Examiner by the Miami Dade and/or the Broward County Board of Rules and Appeals (BORA)
