Job Summary
Oversee shop and service track operations, directing heavy repair activities and coordinating responses to main line outages. Plan, organize, and prioritize daily work schedules while supervising employees performing locomotive and rail car maintenance. Establish clear performance expectations, train and mentor craftspeople on repairs, and lead regular safety briefings to ensure compliance with all safety rules. Coordinate multiple work groups and projects concurrently to meet operational, safety, and service requirements while maintaining operational continuity. This safety-sensitive role requires a valid driver's license, three years of experience in car and locomotive maintenance, and familiarity with FRA and AAR rules. Located in Bensenville, Illinois, this full-time union position offers a competitive salary of $4925.18 semi-monthly.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or general equivalency
- Valid driver's license
- Minimum 3 years' experience in both car and locomotive maintenance
- Familiarity with Federal Railroad Association (FRA) and Association of American Railroads (AAR) Rules and Regulations
- Ability to prepare and accurately fill out all forms required for the operation
- Successful pre-employment medical assessment including physical, vision, hearing, and a negative company or regulated drug test
- Criminal history check clearance
- Education verification clearance
- Driver's license verification and driving history clearance
- Social Security Number verification clearance
- Department of Transportation Background Check 40.25 Form clearance
