Job Summary
Assemble, install, and test mechanical equipment and components in line with engineering drawings, ensuring work is completed safely and to a high standard. Operate hand and power tools confidently while maintaining quality, accuracy, and efficiency throughout the build process. Identify and report any defects, damage, or quality issues, ensuring they are communicated and resolved promptly. Work closely with your Supervisor and colleagues to ensure project deadlines are achieved and customer requirements are met. Support and mentor apprentices, sharing knowledge and promoting good working practices across the team. Help maintain a clean, organised, and safe workshop by following 5S principles, risk assessments, permit to work systems, and company HSEQ procedures.
Required Qualifications
- A recognised engineering or trade apprenticeship
- good secondary education
- The ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
- technical manuals
- assembly documentation
- Experience assembling mechanical equipment
- working with limits and fits on machined components
- Confidence using hand tools
- power tools
- heavy workshop equipment
- measuring instruments such as micrometers, vernier gauges and dial indicators
Desired Qualifications
- HNC (or equivalent) in Engineering
- Previous experience in a mechanical assembly, manufacturing or workshop environment
- Experience using manual and hydraulic bolt torquing equipment
- Knowledge of working with heavy machinery
