Job Summary
Mechanical Field Service Engineer responsible for hands-on mechanical field support for custom automated equipment at customer sites and ATS facilities. Role rotates between on-site customer support and embedded within ATS system builds to deepen equipment knowledge. Independently supports field service, troubleshooting, installation, repair, and retrofits; provides technical guidance to customers; coordinates with project management, engineering, and after-sales service; completes detailed service reports; and contributes to equipment performance improvements. Requires experience with AutoCAD/SOLIDWORKS, strong mechanical engineering fundamentals, field troubleshooting, and ability to travel domestically and internationally. Travel up to 50-60% annually; collaboration with CAPEX project teams; emphasize safety and customer-focused communication; ability to interpret drawings and specifications; exposure to pneumatic/hydraulic systems and mechanical components; capability to perform calculations related to strength of materials and mechanical performance.
Required Qualifications
- Associate’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or related field (required)
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field (preferred)
- Minimum of five years of hands-on experience supporting, servicing, or troubleshooting mechanical automation equipment, custom machinery, or industrial systems
- 1-2 years of mechanical design experience with SolidWorks 3D CAD software
- Strong understanding of mechanical systems including mechanisms, pneumatics, hydraulics, bearings, drives, and structural components
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, technical documentation, and equipment manuals
- Proficiency with hand tools, machine tools, and testing instruments
- Solid written and verbal communication skills
- Willingness to travel extensively (50-60% annually)
