Job Summary

Mechanical/Fabrication Engineer drives design, development, and optimization of sheet metal fabrication processes and tooling. Responsibilities include designing sheet metal parts and fixtures in SolidWorks, creating fabrication drawings and DXF files for laser cutting, punching, and CNC equipment, programming and optimizing fabrication equipment, collaborating with production and quality teams to ensure manufacturability, supporting hands-on prototyping and shop troubleshooting, and contributing to new product introductions and process improvements. Candidates should have an associate degree in a related field (or equivalent experience), 2–5 years in sheet metal fabrication, strong SolidWorks (CAD) skills, CAM programming experience for CNC equipment, knowledge of sheet metal processes and tolerances, and exposure to lean manufacturing and ERP/MRP systems.

Required Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field (or equivalent work experience)
  • 2–5 years of experience in sheet metal fabrication or related manufacturing environment
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks and 3D CAD modeling; experience with AutoCAD or similar software a plus (Pro E, Inventor, etc.)
  • Experience with CAM programming for CNC equipment (laser, punch, press brake, or machining)
  • Strong understanding of sheet metal processes, tolerances, and fabrication methods
  • Hands-on experience with fabrication equipment and shop practices preferred
  • Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems for manufacturing documentation
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement practices
