Job Summary
Mechanical Exchange Technician I who disassembles spindle units, reports on suspected failures, cleans parts and housings for unit assembly, maintains work orders and documents, crates spindle units, and supports 5S and process improvements. Collaborates with other departments to solve problems and adapts to a fast-paced production environment. Requires 1 year of hands-on mechanical experience, strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and problem-solving ability. Preferred: ability to operate forklift and crane, review assembly drawings/part prints, and clear verbal/note-taking communication. Shift is 7:00am–3:30pm with overtime daily and weekends as needed. The role is based in the Okuma warehouse/ showroom at the Global Repair Center in Charlotte, NC.
Required Qualifications
- 1 year of hands-on mechanical work experience
- Strong mechanical aptitude
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to solve problems
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team
- Ability to work in a fast paced production environment
- Basic PC usage for email/timesheets
- Able to review assembly drawings and part prints
- Excellent verbal communication and listening skills
- Good note taking skills
- Ability to stand, walk, and reach for 7/8 of shift
- Ability to lift/carry up to 70 pounds
- Valid driver's license
- Maintain annual OSHA safety certifications
- Live within commutable distance of corporate office
