Job Summary
Read blueprints, schematics, and project designs to determine test specifications and procedures. Investigate and evaluate machinery to diagnose faulty operation, analyze test results, and make modifications as necessary. Repair, rework, or calibrate hydraulic and pneumatic systems using precision measuring instruments and electrical testing devices. Perform basic welding, assemble, disassemble, and maintain equipment including scale equipment and forklifts. Complete necessary paperwork and support the lead engineer in designing plans for routine preventive maintenance. Work in a variety of temperatures and heights while adhering to food safety and quality standards.
Required Qualifications
- 18 years of age or older
- Must be able to work in the United States without sponsorship
- Diploma/GED
- Two years of practical and theoretical knowledge/experience in mechanical engineering
- Prior experience using hand and power tools
- Prior experience using precision measuring tools
- Ability to read and work from drawings and blueprints
- Ability to work in a variety of work temperatures warm, hot, humid, cold, wet or with slippery surfaces at varied heights in and around moving equipment and parts with the use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Ability to work extended scheduled hours Monday through Saturday with daily overtime
- Must be able to work overtime as required
- Must be able to successfully complete Safety training
- Must be able to successfully complete Safe Quality Food (SQF) training
- Must be able to successfully complete Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) training
- Must be able to successfully complete Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) training
- Must be able to successfully complete Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) training
- Must be able to successfully complete Food defense training
- Must be able to successfully complete Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOPs) training
- Must be able to successfully complete Lock out Tag out training
- Must be able to successfully complete Forklift training
- Must be able to successfully complete Pallet jack training
Desired Qualifications
- Prior maintenance experience in a USDA inspected beef, pork or poultry facility
- Work history in the last 12 months
- 6 months maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment
- Knowledge of and ability to perform basic welding (e.g. primary tig; some mig and stick)
- Ability to identify good and bad welds
