Job Summary

Execute design, analysis, test, and commissioning activities for complex mechanical equipment and systems throughout the product life cycle. Prepare or approve design documentation, including technical documents, drawings, BOMs, and engineering quotations. Perform stress analysis using classical and finite element methods for components, piping, and vessels while applying DFMA techniques. Provide technical support to CAD, procurement, manufacturing, and quality personnel. Participate in design reviews, present technical data, and support proposal development and customer presentations. Ensure compliance with nuclear codes, standards, and contractual requirements while identifying project risks and resolving issues.

Required Qualifications

  • B.A.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering
  • Working towards a PEO license
  • Over 3 years of experience in design engineering in Nuclear, Aerospace, Mining, Oil and Gas, or other highly regulated and process based design
  • Some ability to support leadership on engineering projects over their complete EPC life cycles with little support
  • Understanding of a range of interdisciplinary activities; systems design, requirements development, interface design, manufacturing and testing
  • Understanding of a broad range of interdisciplinary departments: systems, l&C, software design and manufacturing
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, understandable by a diverse audience
  • Creative problem-solving skills, outstanding analytical abilities, developing leadership skills and the ability to work in a team
  • Flexibility to work remotely on short-term customer site assignment

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience with 3D CAD software (preference for Inventor/Solidworks) and FEA software (ANSYS APDL & Workbench, Caesar II, PEPS, AutoPIPE)
  • Experience in the CANDU Nuclear Industry
  • Familiarity with CSA Nuclear Codes and Standards
  • Familiarity with ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Codes and Standards
  • Knowledge of process system, pressure vessel or pressure boundary component design
