Job Summary
Mechanical Engineering Manager at Viking Masek Packaging Technologies leads and mentors a team of mechanical designers and engineers in the design, development, and deployment of packaging equipment components and systems. Responsible for planning, overseeing projects from start to finish (installation, startup, commissioning), ensuring specifications, budget, and timelines are met, and coordinating with outside contractors as needed. Drives continuous improvement and scalable processes, communicates design intent across departments, and collaborates with customers, vendors, and internal teams. Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (or related discipline) and at least 5 years of mechanical engineering experience, plus strong leadership, cross-functional collaboration, and proficiency with AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and PDM. Travel is approximately 15% and the role emphasizes documentation (BOMs, flow charts, drawings) and adherence to engineering standards and safety.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline (or equivalent experience and specialized training)
- At least 5 years of experience in mechanical engineering or related field
- Proven leadership and management skills with ability to motivate, inspire, coach, and develop a team of engineers and technicians
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills for cross-functional collaboration with customers and vendors
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, SolidWorks, PDM and related design software
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and troubleshooting skills; ability to handle complex engineering and staffing challenges
- Attention to detail, quality, and safety; ability to adhere to engineering standards and regulations
- Highly analytical, creative, and strategic thinking with a focus on innovation
- Willingness to travel about 15%
