Job Summary
Lead the design, build, and commissioning of specialized production equipment used to manufacture Boston Materials' advanced materials. Define and drive the equipment development and deployment roadmap, enforce engineering standards across all phases of the equipment lifecycle (concept, design, build, commissioning, sustaining), own the technical direction of complex equipment designs and control architectures, rapidly design and launch pilot-scale equipment for new process development, and scale from pilot-scale to LRIP and HVM. Promote safety, organization, and thorough documentation. Collaborate in a startup/small-company setting, continuously seek improvements to processes and methods. Roles focus on solving thermal management and material-processing challenges for semiconductor-related applications. Skills include 8+ years in capital equipment design/commissioning, 3+ years of engineering management, track record delivering first-of-kind equipment, FAT/SAT/equipment qualification expertise, and familiarity with facility interfaces and 5S/hazard analysis. Required Qualifications
- 8+ years designing, building, and commissioning custom capital equipment in advanced materials, semiconductor packaging, battery, web converting, or similar environments where process fidelity must be preserved by equipment design
- 3+ years of direct management experience leading an engineering team (including performance management, hiring, and budget oversight)
- Experience in Greenfield or Brownfield manufacturing startup environments
- Experience implementing FAT, SAT, and equipment qualification standards
- Familiarity with power distribution, building infrastructure, and facility interface requirements for production equipment
- Knowledge of 5S principles, design review processes, hazard analysis, and engineering controls to ensure safety and reliability
- Continuous improvement mindset with a focus on refining designs and manufacturing processes for performance and reliability
