Job Summary
Lead the design effort for Gas Systems, creating white-page designs that form the foundation of Form Energy's Gen 2 product and transitioning designs from prototype to high-volume production. Drive verification analysis and testing of your team's design work while establishing best practices for fluid system design. Recruit and hire engineers who share your vision for excellence, guide the team through failure root cause analysis, and release designs consistent with company standards. Travel up to 20% to other Form Energy offices or vendor sites. This role supports the rapid scaling of our iron-air battery manufacturing at the West Virginia facility, contributing to a sustainable energy future.
Required Qualifications
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
- Bachelor's with 10+ years of industry experience in mechanical design of equipment, liquid or gas handling systems
- Experience leading design work for complex mechanical systems
- Experience managing 2 or more direct reports in a functional leadership capacity
- Understanding of first-principles modeling and design
- Experience optimizing designs for manufacturing and cost-down
- Experience working in a manufacturing environment or with contract manufacturing vendors
- Demonstrated experience optimizing mechanical design, balance-of-plant systems, and interdisciplinary interfaces of fluid systems
- Direct experience in product development within an early-stage environment
- Sense of urgency and self-driven to hit difficult schedule targets
- Travel up to 20% to other Form Energy offices or vendor sites
