Job Summary
Lead the mechanical engineering team through active product development, navigating design tradeoffs to ship industry-leading 3D printers while constantly questioning assumptions to focus work on critical customer success. Drive the team to hit program milestones, provide input to schedules, and collaborate with cross-functional leaders to develop products efficiently. Hire top engineers, help them reach their highest potential, and continuously improve the results and outputs of the mechanical engineering function. Influence product strategy and the holistic Hardware Engineering function. This role sits within Formlabs, a team of hands-on builders reinventing how the world makes physical things, powering innovation for over 50,000 industry leaders including Apple, Google, and NASA.
Required Qualifications
- An expert in the design and production of complex mechanical systems
- Have shipped multiple products, taking them from concept thru production
- Able to communicate fluidly across technical domains
- Crave ownership and responsibility, comfortable making decisions with incomplete information
- Ready to dive into unfamiliar territory and problem-solve like crazy
- Have an entrepreneurial mindset and know how to tie technical work to customer value
