Job Summary
Lead a team of mechanical engineers in designing, developing, and continuously improving access control and automatic door systems. Oversee New Product Development, Value Analysis initiatives, and engineering tool enhancements while managing the engineering change process and resolving legacy product data issues. Direct cross-functional Tiger Teams to rapidly address field escalations, manufacturing challenges, and complex installation problems, ensuring accurate data alignment across Windchill, ERP, and cutsheets. Optimize product designs for manufacturability and collaborate with Global Supply Management to onboard new suppliers and drive cost reductions. Perform data-driven manpower planning and strategic resource alignment to focus capacity on high-value business priorities.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
- 5+ years of engineering experience
- Proven track record in a leadership, talent development, or managerial role
- High proficiency in 3D CAD software (Creo preferred)
- High proficiency in PLM/ERP systems (Windchill/Microsoft Dynamics D365)
- Strong understanding of engineering change processes (ECN/MCN)
- Strong understanding of ERP configurators
- Strong understanding of BOM management
- Extensive experience executing New Product Development (NPD)
- Extensive experience executing Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VAVE)
- Familiarity in manufacturing processes (aluminum extrusions, castings, finishing)
- Excellent structured problem-solving skills (5-Why, 8D, Root-Cause Analysis)
- Ability to lead cross-functional Tiger Teams
- Ability to take uncompromising ownership of issue resolution across departmental borders
- Demonstrated ability to perform manpower planning
- Demonstrated ability to develop business cases
- Demonstrated ability to strategically align engineering and configuration resources
- Expected 25% travel between Farmington CT and Mt Comfort IN locations
- Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to be employed in the United States
