Job Summary
Lead a team of mechanical engineers in designing, developing, and continuously improving access control and automatic door systems. Oversee New Product Development, Value Analysis initiatives, quality improvements, and engineering tool enhancements while managing the engineering change process and configuration resources. Direct cross-functional Tiger Teams to resolve field escalations, manufacturing issues, and complex installation problems, ensuring accurate data alignment across Windchill and ERP systems. Optimize product designs for manufacturability and collaborate with Global Supply Management to onboard suppliers and drive cost efficiency. Requires a Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering with 5+ years of experience, high proficiency in 3D CAD and PLM/ERP systems, and 25% travel between Farmington CT and Mt Comfort IN locations.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
- 5+ years of engineering experience
- proven track record in a leadership, talent development, or managerial role
- High proficiency in 3D CAD software (Creo preferred)
- High proficiency in PLM/ERP systems (Windchill/Microsoft Dynamics D365)
- strong understanding of engineering change processes (ECN/MCN)
- ERP configurators
- BOM management
- Extensive experience executing New Product Development (NPD)
- Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VAVE)
- familiarity in manufacturing processes (aluminum extrusions, castings, finishing)
- Experience with electro-mechanical systems
- Excellent structured problem-solving skills (5-Why, 8D, Root-Cause Analysis)
- ability to lead cross-functional Tiger Teams
- take uncompromising ownership of issue resolution across departmental borders
- Demonstrated ability to perform manpower planning
- develop business cases
- strategically align engineering and configuration resources
- Expected 25% travel between Farmington CT and Mt Comfort IN locations
- Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to be employed in the United States
