Job Summary
Mechanical Engineering Intern role focused on designing, developing, and testing electromechanical systems across customer projects. Responsibilities include design of mechanical systems, thermal management design and analysis, prototyping, and participation in test campaigns to validate hardware performance under environmental stresses. Requires hands-on experience with CAD, FEA, hand calculations, and experience in design, modeling, simulation, and testing of electromechanical components. Collaborative mentorship, exposure to full development lifecycle from concept through prototyping and validation, and emphasis on communication of technical decisions. Benefits include salary of $70,400/year prorated for internship length, on-site 40-hour weeks in El Segundo, and comprehensive benefits.
Required Qualifications
- Current enrollment in college (Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Physics, Robotics, or related field)
- Experience in designing, modeling, simulation, and testing of electromechanical components or assemblies
- Experience with hand calculations, finite element analysis (FEA), and computer-aided design (CAD)
- Demonstrated passion and curiosity for mechanical engineering
- Strong problem-solving skills and initiative to overcome technical challenges
- Strong written and verbal technical communication skills; ability to explain design decisions and component selections
