Job Summary
Mechanical Engineering Consultant for the Process Pressure Vessels team performing design, life assessment, and root cause failure analysis of stationary equipment such as pressure vessels, piping, and storage tanks. Role involves thermal heat transfer and structural stress analysis using both classical and finite element methods, with PV-Elite and/or Compress for calculations, and knowledge of fatigue, corrosion, and fracture mechanics for serviceability assessment. Responsibilities include field inspections support, mentoring entry-level engineers in stress analysis and application of ASME & API codes, preparation of written technical reports and presentations, and assisting in fast-paced engineering assessments. The position may be remote or based in the Denver, CO office, with business responsibilities to develop opportunities and ensure adherence to Commercial Quality Procedures, plus opportunities to learn and participate in training, conferences, and client engagements.
Required Qualifications
- B.S. or M.S. in Mechanical Engineering with 5-10 years of industry experience
- ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel and Piping Code knowledge (Section VIII, Div. 1-3; B31.3)
- SolidWorks CAD software familiarity
- Abaqus FE software familiarity
- CAESAR II piping stress analyses experience a plus
- Knowledge of fatigue, corrosion, crack initiation and growth, and fracture mechanics concepts
- Piping stress analyses experience
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Professional Engineering license in one or more states is preferred
