Job Summary
Design and develop machine parts, equipment layouts, assemblies, diagrams, and 3D models for complex packaging machinery. Apply engineering principles to evaluate design concepts, troubleshoot equipment issues, and support validation of new or modified designs. Review customer specifications and technical manuals to assess feasibility, cost, and application requirements. Specify components and recommend modifications to ensure performance, safety, and sanitation standards are met. Create and maintain bills of materials while adhering to engineering standards for naming, dimensioning, and tolerancing. Partner with cross-functional teams to resolve system issues and support accurate project delivery. Support equipment failure investigations, machine assembly, testing, and technical communication with vendors or customers.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent engineering discipline from an accredited institution
- 3+ years of progressive engineering experience in mechanical design, equipment design, or a related manufacturing environment
- Experience reading and interpreting engineering blueprints, technical drawings, and mechanical design documentation
- Experience using SolidWorks and Autodesk products to create mechanical designs, assemblies, drawings, or 3D models
- Knowledge of mechanical design principles, standard engineering practices, and equipment performance requirements
- Ability to work independently while collaborating with cross-functional teams to solve technical problems and support project execution
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, with clear written and verbal communication skills
- This is a full-time, exempt position
- This position is 100% onsite in Rialto, California
- The role works in both office and manufacturing environments and requires proper personal protective equipment in manufacturing areas
- The employee must be able to walk, sit, stand, use hands to handle tools or equipment, occasionally bend or kneel, and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds
- Limited travel to vendor or customer sites may be required
- Overtime may be required based on business needs
Desired Qualifications
- Engineering experience with food packaging machinery or food handling equipment
- Familiarity with sanitation-focused machinery design, Good Manufacturing Practices, and food handling processes
- Knowledge of machinery safety and guarding requirements, including OSHA, CE, or CSA principles
- Experience applying regulatory or industry guidelines such as FDA, USDA, 3-A, Code of Federal Regulations, CSA, or EU/CE standards
- Familiarity with raw materials, production processes, quality control, manufacturing costs, project management, quality assurance, machine assembly, or equipment testing
- Familiarity with electrical wiring, electrical systems, or product data management software
