Job Summary
Own the design of parts and subassemblies for our automated food equipment from concept to production. Design, prototyping, and validation of mechanical components for next-generation food automation products; create and update 3D/2D drawings; document design history and decisions; order, assemble, and test prototypes; collaborate with Hardware Test Engineers; manage 3rd party vendors for parts and sensors; drive timelines and accountability to deliver on tight schedules. Requires 3+ years in mechanical engineering, proficiency with SolidWorks, CAD, and PLM/PDM, experience with CNC/sheet metal/injection molding, familiarity with actuators/sensors/fasteners, and strong GD&T skills. Role is based in Boston, MA with a minimum 4 days/week in-office requirement.
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years professional mechanical engineering experience
- Proficiency in SolidWorks or equivalent CAD software
- Familiarity with PDM/PLM environments
- Experience designing parts for CNC, sheet metal, and/or injection molding
- Familiarity with actuators, sensors, and fasteners
- Experience creating high-quality 2D drawings for production
- Ability to apply GD&T and tolerancing
- Comfort with prototyping tools (mill, lathe, laser cutter, 3D printer)
- Industrial automation or food manufacturing experience preferred
- Availability to work at least 4 days per week in the office in Boston, MA
