Job Summary
Conduct HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection design for wastewater treatment facilities, including load calculations, schematic layouts, and equipment selection using AutoCAD and Revit. Review shop drawings, RFIs, and construction changes while coordinating with utility agencies and other disciplines. Direct and supervise junior designers to ensure quality delivery and assist with fee proposal preparation. Maintain client relations and apply prescriptive codes for sustainable building practices such as LEED and Passive House. Requires 8+ years of industrial wastewater experience and a Professional Engineer license.
Required Qualifications
- 8+ years design experience in HVAC, Plumbing, and Fire Protection systems with a specific focus on industrial/wastewater treatment facilities
- University degree, college/technology diploma in Mechanical Engineering
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with PEO is required
- Able to read Architectural, Structural, Mechanical and Electrical drawings with minimal supervision
- Able to apply prescriptive requirements of plumbing, building, and sprinkler codes
- Experience with schematic design, equipment selection, and 2D AutoCAD and 3D Revit
- Knowledge of sustainability frameworks, such as Passive House, Zero Carbon Building, LEED
- Demonstrated ability to adapt to changing priorities and respond systematically to critical situations
